RX 480 8 gb vs Nvidia GTX970 which one will get me higher performence?

Cpu:Intel Core-i5 4590 3.3 ghz
RAM:8Gb(gonna upgrade to 16)
PSU:Seasonic 750 watt

will ONE RX-480 do the job for games like The Witcher3 ,FR4 and generally the newest games atm? the 8 gb version of RX-480 costs like 60% off the price of a 8 gb nvidia GPU.
is the RX-480 better than the GTX 970?

The VRAM amount isn't the only thing to "look" at GPUs, if you're going to play in 1080p you don't need more than 4GB. Both cards perform similar anyway.

Depends on the game, read some of the reviews on the rx 480, specifically the gaming benchmarks and see which one performs best on the games you want to play.

Get the 480 it's better in dx 12 thus more future proof

Between the GTX 980 and the RX 480, their performance will likely be close, but the RX 480 will be newer technology at a cheaper price. That is likely the best card to go for. And will perform better at dx12 games then the gtx 970

The 480 will run DX 12 better the 970 will run most DX 11 better. But do your self a favor and wait a week for the 1060 to come out.
