Hi I was wondering which of these would be better 1st
xfx radeon rx 480 xxx custom backplate oc

Or

Msi radeon rx 480 8gb gaming x

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time

MSI edition has a better boost clock and 4 gigs more ram so the MSI Gaming edition is better.

Almost all of third parties GPU performs exactly the same overall, with minimal difference in fps 2 or 3 at most.

While MSI is a very well known brand for GPUs ( I myself have one, with absolutely nothing to complain about it ), i do not know enough of the XFX brand, so cannot talk about it.

I believe both will be great nonetheless, grab the cheapest and just make sure you have a PSU capable of handling them.

Actually, i believe the XFX that he stated is 8GB, so he's comparing both 8GB versions of those.

1k Watt PSU? lol, buy two RX480 and put them in crossfire then,

Go with the cheapest, both will be great!

Ha, I wish, I'm on a somewhat tight budget as oc right now, but that is the plan for the future

Agreed, as long as your budget can handle it, you should get a crossfire RX 480, and again as I said, there is a very slight difference in performance and the MSI edition has slightly higher amount of boost clock.

Then get the MSI edition, at least you won't have any trouble upgrading when you're planning to change the GPU.

Multi-GPU is generally a bad idea.

A lot of games do not support it, or if they do can cause issues such as stutter or added latency (due to how AFR works).
