Hello. My new Sapphire RX 480 4GB fans don't spin when not under heavy load. It seems as they react to the GPU's temperature and start spinning when the temp rises high enough, as they do spin while gaming, or doing some work.

However I have noticed that seconds before they started spinning the GPU temp was at 54 degrees celsius, which I am quite concerned about. Is this normal? Do they really work that way or is that some kind of an error I need to get fixed? I would like them to be spinning all the time obviously to keep things cooler.

Thank you for help.

But is that good to operate on 54 degrees celsius? In a long run... thought that is quite a high to be on when idle.

It's not a big deal, it's made to operate at temperatures higher than that and it will be obsolete long before any of the caps or vrms blow in most cases. If you want them to spin all the time just set up a custom fan curve in the sapphire utility program or afterburner or something

You don't have to worry my RX 480 spin at 65C and 50-53C when idle, You can change the target temperature for auto spin on driver utility or you can change to spin the fan all the time.

Radeon settings/Global wattman , scroll down to Fan & temperature. There is an zero rpm setting there, turn that off so the fan is always spinning. DO NOT FORGET TO APPLY/save the settings. The fans will only start spinning after you hit apply.

4 years later, I hope he's still not messing with this.

Please don't dredge up ancient threads.
