I upgraded from an r9 280x to an rx 480 8gb (with an fx 8350 and 16 gb of ram) and I'm actually seeing worse performance in games. I completely reinstalled my drivers, four times actually. I checked msi afterburner and my clocks are all good. I went from 50-60 fps in gta 5 to sub 35. If anyone has any idea what it might be, don't hesiitate to let me know.

Sorry didn't mean to select you as the best answer. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again but I'm still having problems.

Did all of this, but my frames are still terrible. Any ideas?

Is your card getting sufficient power, or is it throttling to high heaven?
Get Hardware 64 to find out, It will tell you % usage, temperatures, power draw, clocks, multipliers... The list continues. Also, what PSU do you have? You plugged all of the power cables?

Today I loaded up GTA 5. The load took about four minutes, way more than usual. When I got in the game, I was getting 5-8 fps, and some textures weren't loading in. It was kind of like the GPU couldn't load fast enough. It definitely seems like a power issue. I have a 550 w XFX XTR 80+ Gold Certified PSU, It should supply plenty of power. I'm lost on this issue. Do you have any ideas?

Play GTA or run a benchmark, and look at the Hardware64 screen (sensors only) while you do. When you do this, make sure your clocks are up to snuff. Tell us your total GPU usage, the amount of power its getting, and its temperatures. You definitely should be getting enough power... I'm beginning to suspect a PSU problem or dud GPU. How old is the PSU?

Could you link me to a download for Hardware64? My PSU is about two and a half years old.

I got an XFX. I talked to two tech support guys on newegg and they both said it sounds like a defective card so I'm sending it in for a replacement.
