RX 480 underperforming?

My rx 480 is underperforming a lot, like <60fps in overwatch on epic at 1080p

full config:
i7 4790
8gb ram
rx 480

It could be temperature's because they do get somewhat toasty in this small asus rog g20 case. However it doesn't seem to get much better when turning up the fan speeds. Any ideas?

No I do, they're high. But even when turning fan speeds way up to bring temperatures down, the problem remains.

Have you checked for dust buildup? Do you have proper air flow in the case? Intake and exhaust fans?

how long have you had the RX 480 in there?

Just double check you have the monitor plugged into the RX480, and not the motherboard, because the performance you describe could be the IGPU.
