I'm looking at updating the GPU in my ancient rig.
- Intel i5 2500k (base 3.3Ghz)
- 8Gb DDR3 @ 1666Mhz
- Asus P8Z77-V
- AMD HD6950 2Gb edition
- XFX Pro Series 1050W PSU

3 cards on the table (and in my price range).
- GTX 1050 Ti
- Rx 570 4Gb
- Rx 570 8Gb

I'm happy with 1080p got no plans or funds to go higher resolution. I'm mainly concerned with if the newer GPUs are gonna play nice with my older equipment? I'm UK based too, is there much difference between the 4/8Gb 570s on this system? (8Gb version is currently ~£160/$209).

Thanks!

The RX 570 is much faster than the GTX 1050ti.... so the AMD card is the obvious choice.
Now, considering that you're playing on a 1080p display the additional 4GB of VRAM on the 8 GB model won't help you at all, so they'll offer virtually the same performance at this resolution.

NOTE: With proper cooling you can take that i5 2500k up to 4.5-4.6 GHz... it should give you a nice fps boost in games.

Cool! The 4Gb version is £189.49 and the 8Gb version is £179.99 on Amazon (for the Sapphire Nitro+ version) I may hold off until Black Friday see if they drop any more.

By "proper" cooling should my Hyper 212+ be okay for OCing the CPU?

I just overclocked mine to 4.5Ghz just not sure at where to look in CPUID Hardware monitor for temps/voltages as there's 2 sets of information.

If you're using HWmonitor you should be looking at the CPU VCORE for voltage and at the temperarure tab where thermals on every core are listed.

At 4.5 GHz you should be under 1.4V on the CPU VCORE(1.3V-1.35V the majority of people are getting at that frequency).

Stability testing can be done with the Intel Burn Test and Prime95 blend test.

max CPU VCORE was 1.36V. I'm currently running the Asus Intel Extreme Tuning Utility stress test and the highest package temperature is 74*C (averaging 61*C) and highest Core temperature was 74*C (averaging 60*C). Much lower than before!
