Hello everyone...

Recently i bought some parts to build a system for my office :

Ryzen 1200
B450 Aorus M
8 gb 3000mhz ram
Corsair cx450

I have a RX570 Nitro+ spared from my other rig and the problem is that the GPU has 1x 8pin and 1x 6pin power connectors but the cx450 has only 1x 6+2pin.. My questions are:

  1. Will it work fine with the 8pin only? Or
  2. Will be better to use a molex to 6pin adapter?

In the Nitro website says that the 6pin is optional.

Nope, I'm not sure it will work with just a SINGLE 8-PIN, IMO ? I could be wrong though, but looking at GURU3D's review, it says the card requires both 6 and 8-PIN PCI connectors. Even TechPowerUp's database says the same thing, assuming this is your exact GPU MODEL.

I'm not sure why they are listing the 6-PIN as optional though. Maybe it will work then ?

Probably a wise move. You were safe with the CX 450, but marginal for problems like shutdowns, reboots, and intermittent loss of performance. But only if you were going to overclock the GPU. That's what the extra header was for. Stock, it will run all day on an 8-pin. That's all my Asus 570 has; one 8-pin header.

Thanks for getting back on the outcome of leaving one header empty. I guess it's ip to the manufacturer as to whether or not the card will start with one header unpopulated.
