Question RX 580 8gb Hdmi and Display port not working but DVI port does.

I have an asus strix Rx 580 8gb was tested using display port by the seller but when it arrived it doesnt work on my monitor.

I brought it to an IT tech and they tested it using the DVI and it works but unfortunately Display port and Hdmi doesnt.

The problem is, I dont have dvi port on my monitor. I know my hdmi port isnt broken because i used to use hdmi port with my previous graphic card which is gtx 750 ti.

Used some adapters like hdmi to vga still doesnt work i asked the tech to buy a DVI to hdmi to test as a last option.

Gpu was running on dvi only. Used ddu to clean then installed latest rx 580 driver using the techs monitor. After installation, rebooted pc and tried to use a direct hdmi and display port inti monitor still no signal.

DVI only works and my Monitor doesnt have any dvi port i used the techs monitor using dvi to update snd clean drivers.

Monitor is asus VP249QGR 1080p 144hz

biggest problem with buying second hand is you never really know the quality and returns/refunds can be impossible.

asked the tech to buy a DVI to hdmi to test as a last option

if you know for a fact that the DVI port works then it is guaranteed that a converter could work.
there are many low quality adapters such as this out there though that can cause issue of their own like distorted images, lower resolutions available, and others.

it appears this would be your simplest option though.

or you get anther display with available connection.
or you get your money back and buy a new card that works as it should.

The guy bought a dvi with an hdmi end and it worked. Didnt knew it exists. I will try to update and let the computer do its updating thingy and gonna try to connect using display port or hdmi. And yes, returns/refund is nearly impossible and if it is guaranteed refund, i will have to pay for shipping and the cost of it is way more expensive than the item I bought.
