Which one would you buy:
RX580 8GB - $290
RX570 8GB - $280
RX570 4GB - $260
GTX 1060 6GB - $286

UPDATE:
RX 580 4GB - $260 I am liking the AMD cards more, so I think this RX 580 4GB is best for me.

Solution
Well the 570's should be off the table, why get something less.

As for the 580 vs 1060,

They both trade blow and around the same FPS in all the benchmarks, but the 1060 is like 70w less power.

Solution
Assuming playing at 1080p, normally I'd say that the RX570 would be the way to go... IF it were significantly cheaper than the RX580. In this case, it's not.

I tend to lean more toward having bought AMD cards in general, but, in this case, I'd say that since the performance is so similar, the GTX 1060 is the way to go due to the notably lesser power draw.

If we go by online reviews the general consensus seems to be that RX 580 and GTX 1060 perform equally. They trade blows in majority of games and in some games AMD wins (e.g. AOTS, Prey) and in some games 1060 wins (e.g. GTA V). Generally, RX 580 performs better in DX 12 games and 1060 performs well in DX 11 games. These cards are so close to each other that the choice just boils down to price and the games you play.

I have a gtx 1060 (have a look at my signature). ATM, I am playing wolfenstein the new order, DOOM, GTA V, Paladins, ESO, and Batman Arkham Night. They all work great and give me above 75 FPS at highest possible settings @ 1080p. EXCEPT on GTA V. In GTA V, I am getting above 50 FPS. It dips down to 40s in areas with grass. My point being that reviews only generally use internal benchmarks which can sometimes not paint the clear picture.

TL;DR: You cannot go wrong with any card between 580 and 1060. With the prices that you mentioned, dont go for 570. With all things being equal I would go with a 1060 due to its lower power consumption.

I've heard that AMD cards are more futureproof because of the DX12 support, just like you said. Is that true?

Like I said, they are very close performance wise. Please make an informed decisions after seeing what each company has to offer. Nvidia offers shadowplay, ansel, physx, more advanced graphics options in certain games. AMD offers radeon wattman, radeon chill etc. Please take some time out to research about these techs and see what looks appealing to you and go with that card.
