Operating System: Windows 10 Pro v2004 x64
Motherboard: 611835-001 611796-002 “written onboard”
BIOS: J01 v02.28
PSU: 500W “already upgraded my PSU from the stock 320W into 500W, with the 24pin to 6pin adapter to connect the PSU to the proprietary ports on the mobo”

I am planning to buy a Radeon RX 580 4gb, or 8gb, but I'm worried that it might not work with my system because of an incompatibility or something.

The current GPU that I’m using is the "HIS HD 4670 IceQ 1GB (128bit) DDR3 PCIe" which is a very old card and it works perfectly. Since RX 580 is a somewhat recent card compared to the previous GPU I used. Will the Radeon RX 580 work with my system? If not, what can be the alternative that would work with my system?

Looks like that's a 2nd gen Intel CPU (Sandy Bridge). Is it an i3, i5, or i7?

A GTX1060 3GB/6GB would work for sure. RX580 would be a bit more of a gamble. Not saying you can't try an RX580. If you do, hopefully the retailer has a good return policy, just in case.

I know some Sandy Bridge era Dell systems have a problem with the RX series (and some R9 series) cards because they didn't have UEFI.

I'm not sure if an HP of that era could have the same issues. If it has a UEFI type BIOS, I would assume that you should be okay.

It could help to try to search HP specific forums for the 8200 Elite to see if others have had success or any issues.

Yes, my CPU is a 2nd gen i5. Specifically “i5 2500”

Also my system has UEFI BIOS

I tried asking the HPs forum about this and there I found out that my system is the first hp desktop that came with a UEFI BIOS, but still haven’t stumbled upon a discussion that verifies if RX 500 series will work

It’s been a while but I still haven’t stumbled upon a discussion that verifies if RX 500 series will work on the same system as mine. This time, my mobo BIOS is now at J01 v02.33

I did not risk to buy the RX 500 series so I went with a slightly lower gpu, specifically the “Gigabyte Radeon RX 470 G1 4GB”. The RX 400 series worked on my system without any problem.
