HI GUYS,
I have dell t5500 x5690 hexa core processor 16 gigs rams and a power supply of 875 watts I want to buy a xfx rx 580 gts xxx edition 8gb vram can I power this card by an adapter will it work fine I have two 6 pins but the card needs one 8 pin can I use a single 6 pin to 8 pin will it work fine? I just do gaming no overclocking please I want a quick reply I will be very thankfull.

It is highly advised against using adapter for PCIe as there almost never is a story where it ends happily. You need the 8 pin. I would suggest looking into a new PSU if your wanting to use that PSU however looking up that model it looks like it is a very specific PSU so that might be hard to even find a compatible PSU.

If your PSU has only 2 6-pin cables, then you cannot use this with your existing power supply.

If you have MORE than 2 of them, then a 2-6pin-to-single-8-pin adapter would be fine for the 8-pin connection, and then a third 6-pin for the 6-pin connection.

Otherwise, no. Also, kind of strange that such a powerful PSU has such minimal PCIe connectors.

this graphic card only needs a single 8 pin which means two dual 6 pins to a 8 pin will be fine?

I thought that Dell had an 875w PSU with these specs:

Connections: 1x 24 Pin
2x 8 Pin
2x 6 Pin

1x Floppy
1x Molex
5x Sata Power

Yes. The Graphics card MAY come with the adapter for it, but may not.

But dual-6-pin into a single 8 pin is fine.

Though, recheck the available connectors carefully, given what SR-71 has said about the connectors that SHOULD be available.

no it has 2 six pins

Is a Dell Precision T5500. The PSU is designed for multiple CPUs and Quadro grade cards, not really gaming grade cards. Most Quadros it came with only needed the 6 pin PCIe connections so Dell being Dell they designed the PSU to only have what was needed with no thoughts of future upgrades beyond it.

I know that , but at one point the PSU that was included had the above specs that I posted. Wasn't sure if he missed it or had the the older or newer model.
