Hey

I'm planning on buying either a rx580 or gtx1650 for my old pc and as you probably know new gpus might not boot with legacy bios only.

Apparently it could be different from brand to brand, some brands might have legacy support and some went all uefi bios.

So is there any of you that had success booting new gpus such as those mentioned with legacy bios motherboard? , would be great if you mention the brand.

Currently I'm looking into XFX RX580 gts black edition and Asus gtx1650 Tuf.

My system:
Asus P7P55D (LGA1156) https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813131404
CPU: I5 750
Memory: 8gb ddr3

Solution
my GTX 1650 and GTX 1050ti both work with legacy bios mobo.

these are the gpu's, pic taken with my cellphone.

this is the pc where the GTX 1650 is installed. Paired with a Q9500 Core 2 Quad.

this is the pc where the 1050ti is installed, paired with an i7-2600k You can see by this screenshot that the mobo is legacy.

Not exactly the same GPU, but I've seen my mate's PC running an MSI RX 570 . It was a Core 2 Quad Q8400 machine, it doesn't go any more "legacy" than that I think. Considering 570 and 580 are kind of similar (same generation), I think your result won't be too different.

I'd like to point out your last image won't load on my browser.

EDIT : His motherboard model was an ASUS P5S800VM, GPU was the MSI Armor RX 570.

It can be hit or miss. One effect can be no picture in the BIOS, but it works once Windows start loading for example. Then you just have to keep an older GPU around for when you need to use the BIOS.

But yeah, most of the time it works with aftermarket boards. OEM boards have way more trouble.

Thanks for such a detailed information, that's very useful to know those brands and gpus work.

Thanks, I'm actually seeing quite a lot of used msi rx580 armor that was used for mining being sold under 100$ where I live.
