RX 580 with 500w psu

My current specs are a i7-4770, 112gb ssd, 1tb hard drive, r7-270, 16gbs of 1600mhz ddr3 RAM, and a 500w PSU. I want to upgrade to a rx-580 8gb, but i'm not sure if my PSU could handle it.

Also, the cpu is from a friends old alienware pc and is running at about 3.65ghz, as opposed to 3.4ghz base.

It will probaly handle it, for awhile atleast. The older CX series is not known for their reliability.

I just found my psu box, its a cx500m, not a cx500. Does that make much of a difference?

Pretty much the same unit as the cx500.
