Question RX 6750 XT Keeps Restarting My PC During Heavy Gaming – Need Help!

Hey everyone,

I’m having a serious restart issue with my gaming PC after installing an XFX Radeon RX 6750 XT. My system randomly restarts only during heavy-load gaming (titles like Oblivion Remastered, Dragon's Dogma 2, Baldur's Gate 3 in high settings), but runs perfectly fine in everyday tasks. I even played BG3 in custom medium settings for more than 3 hours without experiencing any restart.

Here’s my setup:
🔹 CPU: Ryzen 5 5600G
🔹 GPU: XFX Radeon RX 6750 XT
🔹 PSU: Corsair RM750e (750W, ATX 3.1, PCIe 5.1, 80+ Gold, Fully Modular)
🔹 Motherboard: ASUS Prime B450M-A II
🔹 RAM: 3T-Force Delta 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz
🔹 Storage: 512TB NVMe SSD, 2x1TB SATA HDD
🔹 OS: Windows 11
🔹 Cooling: 1 Master + 3 Slave ARGB Kit 5000 Fans, plus 4 Core 12 Fans

What I’ve tried:
✅ Replaced PSU with Corsair RM750e (issue persists)
✅ Used DDU to clean install AMD Adrenalin drivers (no luck)
✅ Ran several tests with Furmark + Prime95 and OCCT and the restarts never occurs during tests
✅ Monitored temperatures – CPU & GPU stay within safe limits
✅ Reinstalled windows 11 (issue still persists)

I’m wondering if this is a faulty GPU or a motherboard compatibility issue? Initially I thought it was a PSU problem in handling power spikes in heavier games, because the restart never happened on any other occasions apart from playing those games. And never had any visual glitch, CTD, blue screen, etc. Just instantly restarts.

Several games that I tried playing and testing for several hours without any restarts:
✅ Skyrim Special Editions (2 hours)
✅ The Sims 4 (1 hour)
✅ Baldur's Gate 3 (custom medium settings - 3 hours)
✅The Witcher 3 (custom medium settings - 1 hour) / otherwise also restart when I tried changing the graphics settings a little bit higher

Anyone had a similar issue with the RX 6750 XT? Any advice before I try an RMA?

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

Used DDU to clean install AMD Adrenalin drivers (no luck)
You're advised to use DDU in Safe Mode, to remove all GPU drivers(intel Nvidia and AMD) then manually install the latest GPU drivers sourced from AMD's support site in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Can you see if aiming a fan at the VRM area of your motherboard helps change your results?

Anyone had a similar issue with the RX 6750 XT? Any advice before I try an RMA?
To rule out your GPU, I'd drop the discrete GPU onto another known working platform with more than 750W of power courtesy of a friend or neighbor who owns a reliably built PSU(in said rig) at the entire system's disposal and see if the issue persists.

BIOS Version 4631, for context I also just updated the BIOS after experiencing the first few restarts because I thought it would've solved it, but the problem still persists.

And regarding the DDU, yes, I meant that I uninstalled the driver in safe mode first and then reinstall the Adrenalin after restarting.

It doesn't unfortunately.

I don't think overheating is the problem though, because even when I just booted up the PC and ran one of the games I mentioned, the restart still happens in a couple of minutes.
But when running tests with Furmark for about an hour and seeing my GPU work like a madman, the restart didn't happen at all.

Oh, and I also forgot to mention that I tried removing my GPU and running said games with my CPU's integrated GPU, the restart never happens. Heck, I even played Oblivion Remastered with the lowest settings possible and FSR on for a few hours and the restart didn't happen.

To rule out your GPU, I'd drop the discrete GPU onto another known working platform with more than 750W of power courtesy of a friend or neighbor who owns a reliably built PSU(in said rig) at the entire system's disposal and see if the issue persists.

Sadly, don't have anyone. Maybe the only possible option is to go to a computer service shop and try it with them. Hopefully they have a rig with more than 750W.

update the chipset driver to latest version

also make sure you are running 2 separate pci cables to the gpu. each cable provides 150w of power.

yes the chipset driver already updated to the latest version before the first restart happened


Several things I noticed from logging with HWinfo while testing Oblivion Remastered. that I didn't really pay attention to previously:

1. During another testing my CPU is consistently hitting 80–90% usage, with peaks close to 100%.

2. And the average temperature hovers around 80°C, with possible spikes that may trigger emergency shutdowns.

3. The GPU is barely utilized (~40–45%), while the CPU is overloaded.

4. GPU temperatures are only around 40–45°C, which indicates it’s not working hard enough compared to the CPU.

5. No major voltage drops detected that would indicate PSU instability.

6. CPU and GPU voltages remain within safe ranges, suggesting power is being supplied correctly.

Could the restarts be caused by the CPU bottlenecking the GPU?

If CPU is hitting 80c shouldn't cause a shut down however if it's going above 90 it can cause it to shut off.

Even at 100 percent usage 80c is quite high for that chip.

If your running it on a stock cooler get a better cooler

Like thermal right assassin burst 6 heatpipes would be fine for that cpu.
