Which card/manufacturer is better?
I saw some people had issues with the Gigabyte 6950 XT where it was limited in power draw to 290w.
Not really related to the 6900 XT but still not a great sign for Gigabyte.

I would personally choose Asus over gigabyte in regards to AMD cards. That being said both have good reviews overall.

if cooling on the Asus anything like the 6800xt, its meant to be good
