I have recently purchased a Gigabyte RX 9060 XT OC 16 GB gpu with plans to do a new build. My question is can i use the 9060 in my current build as I order parts for a new build. My current specs are as follows
Intel i7 8700k
Motherboard ASUS ROG Strix Z370 E Gaming
32GB DDR4 RAM
Samsung 49" ultrawide 1080p 120hz
Only do simracing such as Iracing, AMS2, Le Mans ultimate etc.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

I have recently purchased a Gigabyte RX 9060 XT OC 16 GB gpu with plans to do a new build.
Is this;
https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-R9060XTGAMING-OC-16GD
the GPU you purchased?

What is the make, model and age of your PSU in your current build? If the unit checks out fine, then yes you're good to drop in the card into your build.

On second thoughts, please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

Thanks for the reply. I am currently at work but will have to check the PSU later on. I did just update to the current BIOS for my motherboard. My current GPU is a EVGA 1080 FTW Hybrid.

Yes, you can install the card in the current system. Roughly the same power draw.
Guess my concern is a cpu bottleneck. I know that term gets thrown around alot. My current GPU is a EVGA 1080 FTW Hybrid. My current system does a good job for the most part considering the age of it. Though it struggles with newer titles like Automobilista 2 and Le Mans Ultimate.

GTX 1080, which I also had, has about the same performance as an RX6600.

8700K in terms of raw output is similar to an i3-13100, but it is still a six core with 12 threads, so it more favorably lines up with an i5 10400 or so. Not terrible by any means. Entry level of today, but that all depends on the game and the settings. Regardless you will gain a lot of GPU capability. Your FPS might not change significantly in some games, but you should be able to enable higher settings.

If you plan to upgrade anyway, it doesn't matter what happens in the short term.

Thanks for the info. I am more familiar with AMD platforms. My plan is to eventually move this card to that platform in a new build. Would be nice to use the card in the short term.
