Rx480 freezes on all games

I have an issue with my brand new Sapphire nitro + rx480 graphic card. Whenever I try to play any game it just hangs after sometime, the only way to recover is to power down my PC. I tried on many different games and it hangs on all games. The driver version installed is 16.9.1 and the motherboard BIOS is updated to the latest drivers. Even tried to uninstall the drivers using DDU and reinstalling again but no help. Can anyone please help me solve this issue?

Likely a defective card.

Likely a defective card. But there can also be a RAM issue instead. That can cause freezing. I experienced it when my DDR4 kit was not stable at 3000mhz on my stock i7 6700K but it worked fine at lower clocks.

Thanks for your reply. I removed the graphic card and played cities skylines on integrated graphics. I didn't get any freeze then, so I think the RAM is good. I am trying to RMA the card.

I have the same exact problem. I bought a Sapphire Rx 480 Nitro 8gb yesterday, and my pc freezes with every game.

I have a Sapphire RX 480 8gb (reference, not Nitro) which has been doing the exact same thing. I literally just finished filling out the Sapphire RMA info... I have heard stories of similar stuff happening. The release was very hyped and I suspect they rushed out a few imperfect cards; really hoping my RMA goes smooth and fixes the issue

Ya i am returning mine to new egg. Im going to get a 1070 instead I think. I wish amd had a more powerful card besides the fury that's made by sapphire. Never buying sapphire again, they don't even have a support number what a joke...
