Hello,

I just purchased an RX480 nitro+ 8gb and got it stable with windows 10. One thing I've noticed is that there is quite a noisy buzzing sound or like static white noise sound that comes from it when on menus and in gameplay

It's not that fans because I can tell the difference in noise and sometimes the noise is there in game menus and the fans aren't even spinning yet

When I switch menus the frequency of the noise changes.

Anyone else have this or know how to resolve it? The fan noise I can put up with but this noise changing frequencys all the time just bugs me.

Solution
If you are having coil whine related to FPS, turn on V-sync or see if the game has a frame limiter. The menus are probably running at hundreds of frames per second and causing an audible noise.

It must be the coil whine from inductor coils. These vibrate at a frequency They normally have an adhesive/glue suppressing the sound. I would RMA the card, coil whine only gets worse with time as the glue wears off.

It is not uncommon for new cards to have a coil whine. It's one of those things that has a variance during the manufacturing process.
