Hello everyone,

Recently my motherboard was acting up (MSI 760GM-P23FX) and I decided to replace it with a Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 R2. After installing this new motherboard with all the same components that were on the previous board (Windows 10, AMD Fx8300, XFX Rx580 8gb, and 16gb DDR3 ram), all I would get was a black screen after post. I could hear sounds from windows through my speakers so I knew that something was up with the graphics.

I took the card out and plugged the display into the motherboard and everything was working fine, no black screen. I have no clue what is happening, I've read that this graphics card works with this new motherboard. I thought it might be drivers, but I can't do anything with drivers without the graphics card plugged in since you have to download them through AMD's software and its auto-detection. I have tried to start the computer with the graphics card in and the display plugged into the motherboard but this just results in a black screen as well. Any input as to what might be going on here and how I can fix it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Is it possible to try another port on the graphics card? The Display Port, HDMI, or the DVI?
Not a likely solution, but better weed out the easy ones.

When I get home from work, I can try an HDMI port with a TV. My monitor is vga and I use a vga to display port adapter. With my monitor hooked up to the display port, I could see the post screens, bios, and what not, but it would go black after that so I don't know if the port or adapter could be still be bad and display that. Also this exact setup had worked just the prior day with my old motherboard.
