Hi, i'm planning to buy a rx580 8gb gpu and my question is: can my 450w corsair handle the power consumption of a rx580 8gb?

Solution
Most RX 580's need at least 500W. Check the card's specs and see if you can find the amount it consumes. Even if it is 400W your CPU still needs power as well as the rest of the computer. Your options might be:

1) Upgrade your power supply
2) Find a less power hungry Graphics card

I would recommend that you upgrade your power supply. A 600W+ PSU should be good. Unless you have a high end CPU then you would need a higher one.

Not to get sidetracked, but....Dude....WHAT!!! A single RX580? That's so much higher than ANY system with a single RX580 would draw, especially a crypto rig which should be undervolted. The GPU-only power draw of my undervolted RX480 while F@H (basically same as crypto mining, which I also did for a short time) is around 90W. Your/my CPU is underclocked to 1.8GHz during that time (because it's terribly inefficient at PPD/MH/s), so very little extra power draw there.

My card used to do many things, I wasn't bothered with undervolting and stuff, it wasn't a dedicated system. Plus with an OC'd CPU doing things as well.

I'm letting the guy know that he needs a decent PSU and you could in theory be telling him he can have a less powerful PSU. Congrats!

Before this descends into a flame war from people letting their imaginations fly, I'm still waiting on the OP to answer my original questions:

Please provide the actual model of your "Corsair PSU"

Also provide your CPU and if your CPU is overclocked (how much?).
