Hi,

I am getting BSOD when using RX580. clean install of windows, latest AMD drivers as of Jan 3rd 2021.
Adrenalin 2020 v20.11.2

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz, 4001 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

Gigabyte BaseBoard Product Z97-D3H-CF

BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. F9, 9/18/2015

Windows 10 pro version 10.0.19042
PSU is Thermaltake SPS-730AH3CCB 750watt
, 16GB Corsair Ram

It happens mostly when gaming, but sometimes on start up.

I have installed all Gigabyte apps, updated lasted drivers. Seems the bios is the correct one. I have done memory tests, cpu tests all came back good.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is the log file

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Make and model of your PSU and it's age? When you mention using the RX580, what GPU were you using prior to it? Did you use DDU to remove your GPU drivers prior to removing your older GPU(if there was one) and then removing the card, to drop in the RX 580? Did you manually install the latest GPU drivers in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator?

You might also want to state what version of Windows 10 you're currently on. I can see from the info that you're on version 2004. We're currently on version 20H2.

Updated Windows version and PSU in initial question.

This is a second hand PC with a second hand RX580 (that was mine from before)

All GPU installs were done after a full windows 10 reinstall.

You need to narrow down the crash more. I’d start by removing the graphics card and running internal graphics and one stick of ram. See if you can recreate the crash in that state and add hardware until it comes back.

My suspicion is the crash is nothing to do with the graphics card it’s either deteriorated thermal paste on the cpu die which causes crashes as the voltage regulator is built into the die on haswell and can be delidded to fix or bad contacts on the ram dimms which can be fixed by cleaning the gold contacts with IPA, spraying the ram slots with IPA or a dirty cpu socket or bent pins on the cpu socket.

thanks, i'll work my way through the list and let you know how I got on.

Ok I’ve had luck triggering that kind of crash under a long blender/cinebench render with Ava instructions but you’d want to turn up the resolution for a longer sustained load. For IPA the best thing to have on hand is the aerosol for the socket/ram slot.

Ok, I took out all memory and reseated. took out graphics card and reseate, did a DDU and reinstalled the AMD drivers. Then did a full 4 pass memory test with mem86 and it passed.

So far so good, been playing on Fortnite (this is testing for my son! as it is his machine) today and zero crashes. So fingers crossed. Thanks for the help
