Hello,
I have a build using the hardware below:
- Strix Z270E Gaming motherboard
- Intel Core i7 4.2
- 1060 MSI GPU
- 550 G2 Power Supply
- 32 DDR4 Ram
I wanted to swap this card for an Gigabyte RX580 as I also use it as a Hackintosh build and AMD cards perform alot better for Mac OS. Specially with the latest OS not supporting Nvidia cards yet.
The current 1060 is seated in the first PCIE X16 slot of the motherboard. When I replaced it with the RX580, the motherboard doesn't see the card. I then tried another same RX580 card to rule out a faulty card and it too doesn't get seen by the motherboard as well. I updated the BIOS to the latest UEFI version form the manufacturer but same issue. I then put the card in the 2nd PCIE X8 slot and finally the motherboard can see the card.
Why is this happening? Why can the motherboard see the 1060 but not the 580? Is this a power supply issue?
Thanks in advance
