ryzen 1200 memory speed vs timings

my current memory kit is gskill ripjaws v 2400mhz cl17 (8*2)
what i want to know is what speed is should run it at?

stock 2400mhz timings are 17 17 17 39 55
when i bump it upto 3000mhz 18 21 21 48 69
for tighter timings on 2133mhz 15 15 15 25 50

Now i only wanna play with speed here not timings because last time i played with timings on my vengeance lpx cl16 2400 kit i think i fried one of the sticks,luckily i was able to get the current kit in place of that so dont wanna take that risk again here.
Also what i have noticed that 2133 gives better performance than 2400 and equal or a bit less than 3000 but thats just what i felt,didnt ran any memory benchmarks or anything.Plus running the memory on 3000 also increases the cpu temps by around 5C and as I also OC the CPU the temps sit around 64-68 around heavy gaming.so if performance gain isnt much then this increase in temp also aint worth it

Timings are in terms of clock cycles. So CL 18 @ 3000 MHz is lower (better) latency than CL 17 @ 2400 MHz or CL 15 @ 2133 MHz.

With those timings 3000 MHz offers the lowest (best) latency (except for 4th timing, which you could maybe try tightening a bit further), and best bandwidth.

I'm pretty sure whatever performance differences you thought you 'just felt' were in your head. You're definitely not going to notice a difference just doing normal stuff like desktop and internet browsing, and even in games it might not be super obvious.

64-68 degrees under load is totally fine.

You might find this helpful, tons of games tested using 2133 vs 3000 and only 1 game showed a difference other than a couple of frames. This is a 50% larger gap comparison than what you are working with so you should notice even less gains. They also use top of the line cpu / gpu and with something lower the gains will be even smaller.

@t99 that test was done with an Intel CPU, Ryzen CPUs are usually more dependent on fast memory.
