Ryzen 1300 or 1400 for gtx 1060 6gb?

For only gaming maybe is better ryzen 3 1300x because it can raise high speed. For all use maybe rizen 5 1400.

Ryzen 5 1400 It is very controversial. There are very negative criticisms and some positive ones. I would avoid it.

Anyway both of them are not powerful enough for a gtx 1060 6g. If you prefer AMD go for rizen 5 1500x or ryzen 5 1600.

If you are going to invest 350 $ / 400 $ in a gtx 1060 6GB it is worth giving it an adequate support. 1500x only cost 20$ more than 1400 and is far more powerful.

Enjoy your rig!

For the first, wait for second gen to comes out and see prices of 1st generation cpu. Between r5 1400 and r3 1200 there is no big difference. In gaming you wont see difference in performance in case you overclock it.But if you are doing something more(streaming for example) go for 1400.I wouldnt go with X ones just bcs u dont get cooler, and they run a little hotter than non-x

Uhh No? The Ryzen 5 1400 is a good chip and will support the GTX 1060 6GB just fine. Where did you get that?

The 1500x has a higher clock speed and more L3 cache but if you are on a budget the 1400 will do just fine.

The Ryzen 3 1200 and 5 1400 are miles apart, with the 5 having 8 threads and 3 only having 4 threads.

Why would the 1500x suddenly be able to handle the 1060 6GB and not the 1400? They are essentially the same except for cache and clock speed.

Where are the criticisms for the 1400? What are they? I had 5 of my friends build around it on a $600 budget and it has been plenty for them.

The question is about the ryzen 3 1300x or the Ryzen 5 1400. The Ryzen 3 1200 you mention is quite inferior.

Ryzen 3 1300x has 4 cores 3,5GHz base, 3,7GHZ boost (2 cores), 3,9GHz XFR , and 8MB L3
Ryzen 5 1400 has 4 cores (8th), 3,2GHz base, 3,4GHz boost (2 cores), 3,45GHz XFR, and 8 MB L3

In gaming is better the highest frequencies that are obtained with Ryzen 3 1300x than the extra cores of Ryzen 5 1400.

Ryzen 5 1500x is much more better than Ryzen 5 1400:

4 cores (8th) 3,5GHz base, 3,6GHz clock (4 cores), 3,7GHz clock (2 cores), 3,9GHz XFR. and 16 MB L3 (the double that 1400 or 1300x).

the 3.5 GHZ base of 1500x o 1300x (all 4 cores) are superior to the 3.45 GHZ (turbo + XFR) of 1400 (only 2 cores).

In amazon.co.uk
Ryzen 3 1300x cost 90 pounds
Ryzen 5 1400 cost 120 pounds
Ryzen 5 1500x cost 125 pounds (only 5 pounds more!)

The 1500x is better than the 1400, apologies.

However, the 1400 would be the better choice over the 1300x, despite the higher freq due to the more cores, atleast from the games I tested for the chips in BF4, GTA V.

Depends on the games you play.

The Ryzen 1300X generally clocks higher to about 3.9-4.1 GHz as the XFR 4C 4T bin, while the 1400 tops out at 3.7-4.0 GHz due to it being the lowest 4C 8T bin.

If you play Minecraft, CS-GO, Overwatch and sich esports games, which uses few cores, get the 1300X. If gaming in general, get the Ryzen 1400.

Going to have to sortbof agree with gingerrankin.

If the op is in the UK the 1500x makes waynmore sense being only £5 more than the 1400.

Apart from the extra cache, & improved base/boost speeds it also comes with the full size spire cooler rather than the stealth - thats worth an extra £5 on it's own.
