I'm struggling on my cpu decision with zen 2 right around the corner. Microcenter is offering the following prices.

1600-$80
1700x-$120 (I'm having buyers remorse due to the fact I still need to buy a good cooler, am looking at the scythe mugen 5) This put's the price awfully close to that 2700.
2700-$195

With zen 2 would it be smarter to grab a 1600 and wait? Or grab the 1700x and then have a great cooler for a next gen product? Or 2700 and be done? What an amazing time to buy a cpu.

I’m not in a big hurry. Am looking to do a bunch of video editing, maybe some gaming at 1080p. My current system is a phenom 1090t, so you can imagine it’s a bit long in the tooth. I’m just really impressed with current pricing of pc parts. Was gonna grab a asus 570 4gb to go along with this.

-thing about 2700 is that yes it does comes with a cooler but if you going to overclock it you still going to need aftermarket cooler.. if thats not your thing then get 2700 over 1700x.
-if you planning to wait for 3rd gen ryzen (which i strongly suggest you do). get a much cheaper CPU if you have to have something.. 2200G is a solid choice if you dont have a GPU.
getting 1600 now would make things very hard for you to upgrade later, its a solid chip and you wouldnt want to upgrade it later on
