Current Ryzen 1700X has a Cryorig H7 cooler and I am overheating during Premimre CC video renders.

I am looking to upgrade the cooler and need suggestions for the best cooler possible. Case is a Define R5. Mobo is Asus X370 Prime with a Ryzen 1700X.

At this point I am willing to spend whatever I need to get the chip cooled for renders. Price is not as much of a concern as it functioning aggressively enough to keep the chip from overheating during the render.

Any suggestions for an AIO, or another way to cool it would be helpful!

I have found these... but not sure which is best.

Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer 360
Fractal Celsius S24
Arctic Liquid Freezer 240
Lepa aquachanger 240
Kraken x52
NZXT Kraken X62

OR

Noctua NH-D15

Any suggestions?

Do you think the X62 will fit in the define R5 case? I have a card reader in one of the front bays, so I think that limits me to 280MM.

Oddly, the X62 is a "280mm" option and the X52 is a "240mm" option, but when I looked at specs the
X52 says radiator dimensions of 275.0 x 123.0 x 30.0 mm; Pump - 80.0 x 80.0 x 52.9 mm
X62 says radiator dimensions of 315.0 x 143.0 x 30.0 mm; Pump - 80.0 x 80.0 x 52.9 mm

According to this chart I would have to fit in the 280 due to the card reader in the front bay taking space (my plan is to mount it on the top of the case, or possibly the bottom because I have no bottom HDD tray)

Best is to have the AIO top mounted as front mount can restrict case air flow.
According to specs for your Case indicates: Extensive water cooling support housing radiators up to 420mm in the top and 360mm in the front.
Either of the ones I suggested should fit. If still unsure then check with Fractal.

It WOULD fit that except I would need to remove ODD cage, but I have a card reader installed there. So I should be limited to the 280 shown in blue right? http://support.fractal-design.com/support/solutions/articles/4000037485-define-r5-radiator-compatibility-chart

will the X62 fit in the 280 footprint? Or is the 315x143x30 mm mean it needs 315mm space, so since I can't remove ODD cage the X62 will not fit?

X52 says 240mm, but dimensions say 275x123x30, so that means 275<280 will for sure fit?

Or am I totally off with how to measure this? Sorry!! I very much appreciate your help.

Sadly, I don't really have another option for card reader, and if I can get away with an X52 in the existing setup I think that may be a better fit.
I'm gonna try that and if it doesn't work I will think about putting the X62 in.

Thanks for your replies and help!!

I will let you know what the results are. And try to get some pics and video to attach of final results!.. if I can finally render without overheating 🙂

Hello, Just wanted to update you.

I totally F'd up on ordring the X52 240mm Radiator for the Define R5 Case.

I do need a 280mm X62 instead of an X52. For some reason I thought the X62 was a 3 fan configuration which would be too large, not realizing it was 2x 140mm fans = 280mm radiator. I mistakenly purchased 2x 120mm = 240mm radiator. The slot I was trying to fill in the case is a 280mm space for the back and middle top mounts on the case.

I got all the way to the part where I was going to install the radiator and fans and realized the holes weren't correct. I could make it work, but it's not the correct way so I'm just going to get an X62 280mm Kraken and take it from there once it comes.
