This is my first attempt at OC so please bare with me

Decided to give OC a try since it looked pretty easy through the ASUS Crosshair VI bios, so overclocked my Ryzen 1700x to 3.85 and I can only run prime95 for about 30 mins before my pc crashes, I read your suppose to test for at least 3 hours with prime95, but I cant make that. Looking to get some help to see if maybe im doing something wrong. OC to 3.85, voltage is set at 1.375 and RAM set to 2666(have not messed with any other RAM settings) Temps while idle range from 28-34c and when 60-61c under full load running prime95, so i dont think its a temp issue. Hopefully I can get some ideas on how to make my system more stable if you need anymore details lmk

Thanks for reading

*Overclocking not guaranteed.

For me, if it's just a gaming rig, stability isn't so critical. Since very few games push a modern CPU that hard, maybe just try using it normally and see how you go.
Otherwise the only usual solution is more voltage or lower clock.

As mez said, overclocking results vary, which is why it is called the silicon lottery. In Ryzen's case, most chips make it to 3.9GHz with moderate to no effort while others may require additional tweaking and cooling to get there. If you are unlucky, 3.9GHz may simply be out of reach for your chip using conventional cooling methods.
