Question Ryzen 1700x to 3600 or 3600x?

So the title pretty well says it. Current specs below.

Ryzen 7 1700x
ASRock AB350 pro 4
16 gb crucial ballistix ddr4 3000
RX 580 8gb
250gb Samsung Evo nvme drive
2 1tb hard drives for steam games/general storage

Resolution is 1080p on 27 inch hp 144hz panel. Plus it supports freesync so not looking to move off of 1080p anytime soon.

Have a wraith prism on the way to replace my current CPU cooler. But keep seeing good things about the 3000 series chips. Don't necessarily need to upgrade, but I've got 100 or so in Christmas money left, and I know my 1700x can fetch about 100 on eBay looking at completed listings.

Thoughts? Is it worth changing it out now, or should I hold out with the 1700x and try some overclocking?

Not worth it. Your RX580 will be the limit in most scenarios.

Ok. Guess I'll hold off for now maybe wait until 4000 series come out in a year or so. That was kind of my original thought anyway. But you get tempted by the new hardware itch. Then I can always upgrade gpu later as well. With freesync though, that seems to help.
