I have a GoPro Hero 6 that shoots in H.265 in certain modes, like 4k 60 fps and 1080p 240 fps. When I try and play these videos back, I'm met with a black screen and only audio playback. When I use something like VLC Media player, it gets locked up on the first frame. When I import it into adobe premiere, the video will play, but the audio is missing.
This sucks because before my new Ryzen 2 2700x, I had an intel i5 4690k, which was stated did not support h.265. So the main reason for upgrading to the 2700x was so that I could play h.265 encoded videos, yet the problem is even worse now.
Is Ryzen 2 even able to decode h.265? Because I tried the same videos on my much lower spec pc with an Intel Pentium G4400 and a gt 1030, and the video actually played back. Yes it was a little choppy, but it was 100 times better than my other pc. Which makes little sense to me.
Did I mess up and buy a processor that won't work with h.265? Or is my GPU (GTX 970) the culprit?
