Hi everyone.
I've read loads of threads and watched plenty of benchmarks on YouTube, but I'm not quite sure which combination is going to be better for 1440p 120+ FPS in most games.

My 2 options:
Ryzen 2600 with RTX 2080
Ryzen 2700X with RTX 2070
I won't be doing any demanding workstation productivity, I just will be playing games and doing light work. (Also, Is the i5 8400 a better option with the 2080?)

Thanks for all the help.

Solution
The 2600 and the 2080 should be a good match. Min to no CPU bottleneck in most situations.
The i5-8400 would be OK too, but introduce a tiny bit of bottleneck. Again, in most situations.

For pure gaming, the 2600 is probably a tad better than the 2700X. But the 2700X is better at most everything else. Depending on the screen rez you plan to game at and the v. refesh of your monitor, of course.

Bottom line: You can't make a mistake with any of those choices.

Again, this pertains to gaming only. The i5-8400 and R5 2600 even out at 1440p, becoming more equal. And my opinion is only based on the Nvidia 1000-series cards. I haven't had a chance to try out the RTX 2000-series cards. Or glean much info online. But I did find this.
