Hi, currently I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 280 graphic card from my old system which just dead.
I am looking to get either Ryzen 5 2400G or Ryzen 5 2600 with this GTX 280 for now.
I am planning to get MSI B450 Gaming Plus as the motherboard.

will my old graphic card work on the 2600 CPU and motherboard?

Solution
Hmm bit of a dilemma i can see.

Not sure how modern motherboards behave with legacy graphics cards. Gtx 280 is marginally better than the 2400g's Vega 11 graphics. Suppose if you went with 2400g you could try knowing you have an igpu to fall back on if gtx 280 doesn't work.

2600 is a better cpu to pair with faster graphics cards vs 2400g, but you'll have no igpu and would be taking a gamble relying on the gtx 280 temporarily.

Solution
I'd not buy either CPU with the 25-30% faster Ryzen 5-3600 just ~ 7 days from review and launch...(supposed to be $199....likely well worth it, and not crippled by only 4 cores for the next few years for when you eventually get an actual GPU like a 1660 or 5700XT or above...
