So I decided to give up on my 7 8 year old AMD 8350 pc. I got what I thought was great deal on a Ryzen 2600X for $135 so I bought it. I definitely want to upgrade my cpu in a year or so to gen 3 or 4 so I got a Asus TUF x570-plus. It was like $200 vs. $120 for an x470. In the past I have always gotten the newest motherboards for future cpu. I put 16G corsair 3200 memory in there and a 256GB M.2 3.0 card as well as a 1T SSD. Runing Ubuntu and Steam games. I also will be getting a 1T PCIE 4.0 M.2 board in the future.

I'm going to jam my old MSI R9 390 in there also, the question is how much of bottle neck will this be until I save $400 for a new graphics card?
Will it even work?
.

Solution
More than that bottleneck question, I'm wondering what the make and model of your PSU is and how old it is? Bottlenecks can be dealt with by reducing gaming resolution and in game details. PSU power limitations can't be averted unless you shave some power draw from the entire system.

I have a Ultra X3 ULT-HE0850X 800W, don't nonage. It is 100% modular and has the 8 pin connector for tha atx mother board connector. I was wondering about replacing it. It hasn't been plugged in to the wall yet on this system. Specs say it's 80% efficient.

Neweggs caculator for my system says 655W so I assume a 750W should work. I suppose I should buy a new one.
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3, 220-G3-0750-X1, 80+ GOLD, 750W Fully Modular, EVGA ECO Mode with is on sale at newegg for $129.99 119.99 with rebate card.

so what do you think about about my power supply situation, I would hate to toast everthing with with my old PSU.

Thanks, I did some reading and decided to get a new good power supply, I got a:
EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G+, 80 Plus Gold 850W, Fully Modular, FDB Fan, 10 Year Warranty, Includes Power ON Self Tester, Power Supply 120-GP-0850-X1

Decided not risk new components. Ne t year I'll get a ryzen 7 xxxxx 3 gen or 4 gen and a new graphics card.
