  • Asus Crosshair VI Hero (Updated to BIOS version 3502x64)
    Corsair CX650M
    GIGABYTE GTX 1080 8gb
    16gb DDR4 RAM
    Ryzen 5 1600/Ryzen 5 2600x
    Windows 10

Alright, so I just recently rebuilt my computer after a series of motherboard failures due to a dying power supply. I was using a GIGABYTE board before that supported second gen Ryzen processors right out of the box, and had no issues. However, I picked up this one because it looked like a pretty good motherboard that should work fine with my Ryzen 2600x provided I updated the BIOS first; a pretty simple task, since you can do so on the VI Hero without a CPU installed.

Problem is, after I updated the BIOS, it doesn't want to boot with the processor installed. Everything works fine when I've got the 1600 in, but when I swap it out for the 2600x, nothing happens, and I get a number of error codes. The one that seems to be prevalent, and the one that it sticks to the most is 48.

I've tried several different BIOS versions, including the most recent one. I rolled back to this one because it was the first to have support for second gen Ryzen processors.

Any idea what's causing this? I haven't seen much else in the way of similar problems, and the manual doesn't have much info on the actual error codes. Thanks!

Solution
Your current BIOS version does not support that CPU. I suggest you try reading the published CPU Support List.
