[SOLVED] Ryzen 2600x or 1800x

Solution
the 2600X is the newer ones.. the 1800X is the older ones.. the 2700X is a better version of the 1800X with that said the 1800X is a little faster then the 2600X.. so like multi core the 1800X would be better as it has more cores.. the 2600X has less cores but is has faster single core performance just not as many cores.. so it depends on your usage.. overall they are pretty much even at least to me.. now if you had a 2700X and the 1800X then I would say clearly the 2700X as it is faster on all fronts. there is speculation about the next 3000 series of chips that we should know about next month as well.. IF you are really in the market for a new CPU I would recommend that you go with a 2700X if you want the best that amd has to offer...

For gaming I'd get the 2600 non X, the stock cooler is good and XFR will boost the CPU above the turbo speed as long as the temp is good. If your doing video editing or streaming where you may need the extra cores and threads on the 1800X then it may be a better choice. I wouldn't consider either CPU futureproof (doesn't really exist in the PC world) however AMD is using the AM4 socket until 2020 so it does give you a good upgrade path.

IF you are really in the market for a new CPU I would recommend that you go with a 2700X if you want the best that amd has to offer right now in their Ryzen CPUs being its cheaper then the 1800X and faster.. but more of course then the 2600X and it comes with a cooler where the 1800X does not (though that does not matter if you are going to get an aftermarket cooler) (I personally have the 1800X and its great. but I have had it since a few weeks after launch.. If I didn't already have that one I would have got the 2700X personally a few months ago.. now I am waiting to hear if the new CPUs (3000 series) being announced and I think sold in early 2019 is an real upgrade for me or not as the 2700X is not a lot faster then my current CPU at lest when you consider it was a LOT back when I got the 1800X and then you get like half the price on the 2700X at the time it launched in comparison.

Here's another option. How about the 1700x? Still 8 cores, and closer to the price of the 1800x. Take the money saved from the 1800x, and get a nice cooler and overclock.

That said, if you are gaming, probably the 2600x. If you do more multitasking etc, the 1700x/1800x. What do you use your system for? I think in the next few months, somewhere around May or June, they are supposed to release the Ryzen 3000 series, which should be Ryzen 2. So should be a nice performance bump. Depending on what you have now you may wait.

Last idea, this is useful if you have a microcenter nearby, everyone else seems higher. My local Microcenter has the Ryzen 5 1600 for 120. If that's an option, you could pick that up, a nice motherboard, overclock the 1600, stay with it a few months, then upgrade in a few months and sell the 1600.
