hey there i am need of another opinion on this, so my current rig is ryzen 2600 plus rtx 2070 super and 16gb ddr4 ram. i play games like assassin's creed odyssey and the witcher 3 those are just example of games i play. in assassin's creed odyssey i play on 1440p and high quality setting with some setting turn off, in cities i get like 40 fps outside i get 60fps sorry for long explanation on this, back to the question is upgrading the ryzen 2700 worth i don't go past 250$ for cpu right now here in Canada ryzen 2700 is 189$ . thx for the advice and opinions.

Solution
thx again for advice and help i will look into maybe 1st gen threadrippers since one is only 450$ in Canada. but i will do more research
No, skip the old threadrippers, they have low single core performance and are on a different motherboard socket that has been discontinued.

Your performance is pretty average for a 2600 at 1440p, upgrading to a 3600 will net you 5 more fps at best and a 3700x a couple more on top, So it's not really worth it imo.

Well if u already have 2nd gen ryzen .. U won't get much of a jump in a more cores and thread cpu of the same gen ... U have an excellent 6c/12t cpu, wait a little a bit for 4th gen ryzen as they also support the am4 socket .. or if u wanna buy now and wanna an 8c/16th go for the R7 3700X
NB: U will still need stronger single core performance in games rather than total core count, I think the 3600 or 3600X is an easy under 200$ choice
