Ryzen 2700x and RAM

I am building my first AMD based machine. I almost have all of my parts and while continuing to educate myself have come across information that this CPU has an affinity for specific RAM speeds, timings and brand.

This build is for the next 2-3 years and is for minor video editing, gaming and streaming.

I bought this RAM

My question is, should I be getting this RAM instead?

So to my knowledge.. The RAM designated for the AMD setup would be the best choice. However, I have read that getting RAM not brought to yoy.by AMD would suffice.

The ram you first have listed is actually on the compatibility list with your motherboard. The second one you listed is not on that list. Now that doesn't mean it won't work, but just thought it was worth mentioning.

The second set of memory you listed is better in the sense that the CAS latency is lower which means faster times.

Either kit will likely work. However, the more expensive kit has lower CAS latency. The general consensus is that Ryzen CPUs can get the best performance (e.g. highest memory speeds) with RAM that uses samsung b-dies. The more expensive kit uses b-dies.

TJ thanks for your reply. I get the "better" part as higher frequency is generally better. However, I guess I'm asking if there is information or consensus that you are "hamstringing" your CPU with out purchasing the B-dies and Samsung produced modules.

Or are we talking a difference only noticeable on crazy stress tests or hardcore enthusiasts.
