So I am at a predicament between these 2 CPUs. Where I live, the 2700x ($130) is 60 dollars cheaper than the 3600 ($200). I already have an x470 Asus CH7 waiting for the new chip. I game at 1440p/144hz with a 1080ti so I was wondering if the 3600 is worth it for 1440p gaming, because all I have seen are 1080p benchmarks which doesn't tell me much about the CPU bottleneck at 1440p. I am not worried about heat output either, this build is a custom loop.

The reason they do CPU gaming performance comparisons at 1080p is it removes the GPU from being the bottleneck. At 1440p, all else unchanged, it's the GPU that's increasingly the bottleneck.

But in general, games are quite happy with 6 cores/12 threads so the IPC improvement of Ryzen 3600 will have more impact than the 2 extra cores/4 threads a 2700x offers. That makes the 3600 a better processor for 1440p gaming.
