Question Ryzen 2700x vs 3700x

hello

I have ordered and today received Ryzen 2700x ,Asrock B450 Pro4 , and Gskill 32GB Aegis 3mhz ram.
GPU will be AMD R9 290,Corsair TX650 psu.Patriot SSD 512

I am a musician using Cubase 10 pro.
But I also want to use ProTools 8LE with Digi 002 console version which despite being old offers functionality I don't want to miss. and PT is supposed to be installed on Windows 7. so I need to be able to run windows 7 no matter what.New version of PTools costs like 600+ ,and it does NOT supports Digi, sadly

ASRock supports Windows 7 with Ryzen 2700x , and amd offers drivers for 7 too.

While I was waiting for my order to arrive I was reading all the comparisons between 2700x and 3700x. Ryzen 3600 is simply out of the question.
Do you think it's worth spending extra 133 euros to get 3700x ? It is my understanding that it can be made to run windows 7 but I need stability,I need a production win7 system.

I don't care that much about gaming.I do care about digital photo /video,but music (cubase 10 pro/ PTLE8) is what I really caree about.

You will, of course, gain better performance from the 3700X but, since you've already got a B450 Motherboard I'd stick with the 2700X. You get more benefits having an X570 Motherboard with 3rd gen Ryzen such as PCIe gen 4.0. I don't imagine that sort of feature set would benefit you either so I'd save yourself some money and potential incompatibility issues with the 3rd gen CPU not playing well with the 2nd gen Motherboard.

hi.thanks for your reply.The truth is ,I tried to upgrade without spending much.compatibility issues is something I had not considered so far.I did chose this motherboard after much search ,but i was focused on features / overclocking possibly .you really did helped .

I got also to say ,ASROCK is listing ryzen 3700x as supported ,and it has a sticker reading "AMD Ryzen 3000 DESKTOP READY"

I actually have two very similar systems, one with a 2700X and the other with a 3700X. Using Superposition, there is less than 1% difference in their performance. Both perform very well. Both systems have the same GPU and 32GB of memory and use similar SSDs.

That being said, I see no reason to spend anything to move from the 2700X to the 3700X, based on the requirements stated earlier.

Ryzen 7 3700X because is only 7% more slow than a i9-9900K.
