Ryzen 3 1200 Overclocking Help

I have had my PC for around 3 weeks and I have been experimenting with the overclocking of my Ryzen 3 1200. The Default clock and voltage is 3.1 GHz and 1.18750 V. When I first overclocked my CPU I set it to 3.8GHz and at 1.21875 V. I was able to run and complete Cinebench but after a few days I ran Cinebench once again and my PC black screened, suggesting that it was a unstable overclock. So I raised the Voltage to 1.22500 where the same scenario happened. Now I have gone up to 1.25625 and CPU demanding games oftenly Black Screen and make the PC unresponsive, however audio from Skype, music ETC. is still being transmitted and my friends still are able to hear me through Voice coms.
I need a solution to this and require suggestions for a stable overclock or did I just get very very unlucky in the silicon lottery or this another problem in the software or other hardware.

Voltage can go much higher. ~1.4V max for long-term, so try 1.35V-1.4V and allow a dynamic vcore

Well keep temperatures in mind too. My temperatures are ridiculously high compared to other Ryzen 1200's I've seen. They each above 75 degrees C on just 1.25 V with only Intel burn test running. So going up in voltage is not s very good option. But when I was installing the processor I took a smuged some of the thermal paste of the cpu cooler by accident, not a very noticeable amount but still did. Would that affect the temps?

I will try that later on but I hear people get their Ryzen 3s stable 3.8 GHz on low voltages like 1.21750. So I did get unlucky in the silicon literary?

The thing im worried about is how it was stable at such a low voltage but then after 2 days it became unstable. I was only running cinebench though so the stress testing wasent really done properly and maybe 2 days after i tried cinebench again i had more background apps on making it crash. I don't know.

It haven't done extensive overclocking, but when I do it I run Prime95, AIDA64, or OCCT (or all 3) for at least 1-2 hours if I plan on running the overclock regularly.

Tommorow I'm going to experiment with getting a stable oc with the lowest voltage and use it when I buy new ram and some thermal paste since the temps are high. And I forgot to add not only did i smuge some thermal paste off, I also too the heat sink off after it was placed down and stuck to the cpu and put it back without replacing the thermal paste.

Get you some extra thermal paste, I use Arctic Silver 5, and get a nice thin layer applied properly. It took me several tries to get just the right amount before I knew the right amount. It's easy to use too much.

It was my first ever build for my birthday so I fucked up and I saw in vidos that you should put a little pea sized drop onto the cpu and let the heatsink spread it out evenly I will do that. I will figure out the best stable overclock tommorow and see how the temps improve with the new coat of thermal paste when I get it. Until then I think I will just stay on stock speed, or maybe the overclock won't run too hot.

Well that's why I say make sure you have enough thermal paste, 1 tube should be enough for several applications. Find out which application of thermal paste works best for your CPU.

I have done some testing today with the overclocks, I completed 10 runs of Intel Burn Test and the Ryzen Master software running which also puts some strain on the CPU and background app like Skype, Steam and Chrome with a video playing, at 1.26250 V. Than I tried the same test but at 1.25625 V but my PC crashed. In both test the temps were reaching above 75 degress about 77 max. After I restarted my PC I did the 1.26250 V test again which ran and completed previously however this time crashed. I don't know if it was the Temperature or too little voltage, now I've done the same test at 1.26875 V and it was completed, I will try it again later and see if it succeeds again , I will keep that as the overclock and wait until I get new thermal paste to use it in games.

I don't really want to go above 75C and at 1.26875 V the CPU is stable and I ran intel burn test 20 times and it finished without a flaw, it reached 77C but that is probably due to the thermal paste situation, I will keep this as the overclock and use it when I get new thermal paste thanks a lot for your help.

Game temps were around 66 on Rust which is a very CPU intensive game. And around 60 or less on esports titles.

Your temps are fine now. Seems like you could push it a little further. If you want better temps at higher voltage just get a better cooler, but it's still not guaranteed to give you any more overclock because overclocking is not a guarantee.

Thanks a lot for the help I will experiment some more when I reapply the thermal paste with higher clock speeds and voltages.

Hi. Have also Ryzen 1200. Without changing anything just set clock to 3700Mhz and you have rock stable OC with stock cooler. If you want more you must buy better cooler. I can go 4Ghz stable, but need voltage around 1,4 and temps not what i want as i prefer quite computer. I have 3,9Ghz 1.28750v in BIOS, but MOBO asrock ab350m pro4 dont have LLC and i see in monitor programs that CPU taking around 1,336 in stress test.

This is very weird, I tested your settings at 3.7GHz and stock voltage and yes my CPU is running stably with IntelBurnTest and Prime95 running at the same time for 20 minute. However, a 3.8GHz overclock can't even stably run at 1.30 V. However, once I put it to 3.8GHz on the stock voltage the CPU crashed within 10 seconds of not even being under any CPU load.

If you have any ideas on this please respond.

Use google translator and read review on link downbellow. They hit 3.8Ghz 1.3v with stock cooler, but temps over 80 with cooler full load. From my side if you dont want buy better coller just set 3700Mhz. Temps and coller loud will be OK. 100Mhz difference is nothing.

I've actually found a new solution. I can stably run 3.8GHz at 1.30V. All I had to do is update my bios and this allowed me to overclock using the normal functions in the CO Tweaker. Also it made over-clocks at lower voltage once again stable unlike the Ryzen Master app.

It' normal result, for me is 3.7ghz@1.2v, 3.8ghz@1.3v, all pass intel burn test 10x loop for 70is minutes.

you might have, ive managed to get to 3.6Ghz using 1.2v and my temps below 60 degrees, i also smudged a tiny bit of the thermal paste whilst installing.
(Update: ive got 3.8Ghz on 1.2v with still cool temps, just up the voltage)
