ryzen 3 or i5?

im wondering if i should save and buy ryzen 3 1300x and am4 mobo or buy lga 1151 mobo and intel i5, old g4560 mobo fried

Ryzen 3 for sure, i5 does not have hyper threading. I recommend either 1200 or 1600, 1300X is less cost-efficient compared to those two.

What is your current specs? May help you with the upgrade. Budget?

1300x is better value right now. But if you get a good deal for the i5, you can get it too. There are always deals around black friday/cyber monday/christmas/new year. There could be some price adjustments too after the new gen. Intel releases this friday.
So, you should leave that decision for now till the time you are ready to purchase.
