[SOLVED] Ryzen 3700X 49-50c idle

Just upgraded my cpu to a ryzen 3700x and i’ve noticed my temps while idle are 49-50, sometimes it tends to fluctuate between 35-50 as well and even a bit into the 60s range, is this normal?

idle temps really don't matter and are often most affected by ambient temps. As long as they aren't excessive (they are not) then there is nothing to worry about.

If it's fluctuating from 30 to 50-60c, at those higher temps it's certainly not at idle. Something is working in the background for sure.

i noticed that windows defender has been really high in task manager, maybe that could be the issue?

Yes, WD could be a high user every once in a while, I think weekly, when it does full system scan. If you are shutting computer down often it grabs time to do it when it can. Best to leave computer on idle once in a while so it can finish faster.
