Almost certainly be able to support it in terms of being able to boot and whatnot. Need to wait and see how B450 boards perform with the new CPUs with regard to things like power draw and memory support.

I hard NO. I ended up making the aweful mistake of buying a 3800x for $300 because they sold my 9700k. I have the b450 mobo. Black screen, doesnt post, even though the box claims to be 3000 ready. Dont buy it. I have it here now and for last 15 hours been trying hard not to put my fist through a wall in frustration

Are you sure you plugged your monitor into your graphics card, not your motherboard display outputs?

Do you have the Max version? Both support 3000 series but only the Max version has BIOS support guaranteed. The non Max may need a BIOS update which requires a prior generation cpu.

If it has the "ready for ryzen 3000" sticker on the box it should support a 3800X out of the box, regardless which B450 board it is.

I ended up with the 9700K and a z390UD board. I am very happy and actually see some huge performance gains over the 6700K Thanks everybody for the help
