hi
Have recently upgraded CPU from 2700X to 3900X
Temps are 35'C in bios 40'C in Idle slowly rising to 79-90'C
Under load it reaches 95'C where i guess thermal throttling starts.
on 2 occasions PC switched itself off while in BIOS "high temp)
Corsair H60 Water cooling
Msi X470 Gaming plus max
16gb ram
All working perfectly on 2700x, temps under load never reached 70'C
I guessed maybe water cooler died but it appears in bios as running(rpm)
I have put another fan cooler Arctic Cooling Alpine 64 Pro (brand new) and temps are only a bit better
my thoughts: both coolers are too weak for this or died.
on YT there is test with 3900x and h60 and it runs good.
in BIOS all fans set to max, also played with smart fan etc.
What should I do or buy to get 85'C max under full load?(maybe water cooling would be overkill, dont want to spend too much money as i am on budget)
Another question. is there any sort of cooler rating (like with PSU 650W) where you will know the new cooler will be powerful enough.
Main question is: are both coolers not good enough or is there any set up issue??
Solution:
bought ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 and temps are idle: 31'C and 52'C under stress.
As case study need to say my H60 would be sufficient but it died during CPU swap.
Honestly never thought 2 coolers might go bad at same time as coincidence. I even thought CPU/CPU's sensor is faulty or even something is blocking proper cooler installation.
thx
