Question Ryzen 4600G upgrade keeps crashing

2 days ago i upgraded my ASRock X370 Killer SLI motherboard from a 2200G to a refurbished 4600G (the 4600G is identified in CPU-Z). Ever since my PC keeps blue-screening. The reason for the blue screen seems different every time, and on other occasions it does not blue screen, it just reboots. Before installing the new CPU i updated the motherboards BIOS to the latest version P7.30 for the 4000 series CPU support and did get blue screens before installing the new CPU. Could the new BIOS be the problem?

I have run "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth" and "sfc /scannow" in CMD.
All the drives in my system have bee checked with Hard Disk Sentinel and they are healthy.

Secure was enabled prior to swapping the processor? X.M.P/D.O.C.P enabled in BIOS? Did you clear the CMOS after you'd verified that the BIOS was successfully flashed to the latest? You're advised to disconnect from the wall and display, then remove the battery for 30 minutes. Replace the battery and then see if the issue persists.

from a 2200G to a refurbished 4600G
Can you elaborate on where you sourced the 4600G? If the older APU works without a hitch on your latest BIOS version, then the issue can very well be the latter APU. Drop the 4600G into another known working motherboard with the right BIOS version to see if the issue persists.

I never checked if Secure Boot was enabled or not, the BIOS was set to defaults and fTPM had to be disabled. X.M.P was never enabled in the BIOS because the 2200G would not support speeds above 2666MHz. No, I never cleared the CMOS, i will try that. I purchased the 4600G online from Best Buy Marketplace. I don't have another motherboard to test it. I will try putting the 2200G back to see if i still have the same problems.

Update; I switched back to the 2200G two hours ago and everything seems to be working perfectly.
Looking back, when i installed the 4600G, it is possible i did not reset fTPM for the new CPU on first boot-up. I was worried i might get locked out of my C drive so i chose "N" rather than Y. I thought the new CPU would either work or refuse to boot completely. Could that have been the problem?

The same problems of constant blue-screens are back with the old 2200G, so my problems seem completely unconnected to the new refurbished 4600G APU. After reinstalling the 2200G my PC ran perfectly for 15 hours straight , then it suddenly blue-screened. When i restarted the PC it would only run for 60 seconds or less before crashing again, finally ending at a recovery screen saying "A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. Error code: 0xc000000e". Two new blue-screen i got this time were "Memory Management" and "Page Fault In Nonpaged Area - What Failed: Ntfs.sys". Any clues in that?

To get the PC running again i cleared the CMOS and pulled 1 stick of RAM to see if that made any difference. EDIT; The PC has now been running for 5 hours straight without any problems.

I should add that as a test i ran Linux Mint from a USB stick and it ran for half an hour, then everything on the screen froze except the mouse cursor. I could move the mouse but none of the buttons would respond to a left click. I had to reboot.

At this point i think my best option is to try updating the BIOS back to the previous P5.40, even though the motherboard support page says once the board is upgraded to P7.30 i can't go back to an older version. A couple of years ago i did upgrade to P7.30 and was having problems (i don't remember exactly what they were) but i was able to roll back to P5.40 without any problems. Is there any reason i should not try this again?

The only really old part in my system is the PSU, made in 2003. Could a failing PSU be causing my problems? I do have other PSU's to try but i don't want to pull everything apart without a good reason.
