Ryzen 5 1400 or 1600 for mostly gaming,some game modding tools

I have a Gigabyte AB350-Gaming 3 ATX motherboard and Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB DDR4-3000,a Seasonic Platinum 80+ Fanless 520W psu,and a XFX RX 580 GTS 4GB,doing research to find out what the best overall choice would be between the R5 1400(overclocked,naturally) and the R5 1600. 90% of this setup will be used for gaming,and the rest ,probably watching anime. haha. I'm leaning towards the r5 1400 because I play 1080p/75Hz Freesync. I'm not moving to 4k the foreseeable future,if ever,so I'll be using the cpu and gpu for years and years. Is the 1600 worth the extra money? From my experience with the FX series,the 6 and 8 core performed worse than the 4 core in gaming.I'm only gonna have enough money to buy one(returns are a pain lol),so I want to be doubly sure.Intel's core i7 series has been running 4c8t for a good while and they are pretty good at gaming.I don't see why the Ryzen equivalent(4c8t) would not also be fine for some time.

If u can afford it mister, get the ryzen 1600.

Sure the ryzen 5 1400 handles it, but the 1600 does it Better for the Peformance per dollar

you're right that the fx series were bad, and its not all about cores... its for the most part about single core peformance ( e.g. intel dual core beating a 6 core fx cpu).

I could get the 1400 and overclock the hell out of it,and spend the difference on a good cooler. Earlier today I was thinking of the R3 2200G,but it's only a hair better than what I have temporarily(core i5-4430,asus b85m-g) I'm on a fixed income,so I can only afford one big purchase each month. My main concern is price. The R5 1400 should handle my 580 with no issue,right?

RX580? 1400 is already good.
1600 has however 50% more cores for only slightly more money. I would really get the 1600.
1600 is the better price/performance option by far!
