I want to upgrade from AMD FX-6300. I've seen many used i5-6500s at a much lower price than a new Ryzen 5 1400, and the 1151 mobos are also cheaper (at least it's like that in my country).

The i5-6500 (identical with i5-7400) seems to get a bit better fps in most games, but also usually gets hotter and has larger percentage of use and I won't be able to overclock it.

Therefore, I'm not sure if 1400 won't become better than i5 in future games, assuming that they will utilize it better. But will they?

Solution
1400 will do better, because it can use the benefits of the 8 threads with 4 corse, the i5-6500 only have 4 threads because of there is no hyperthreading on i5 desktop. you can even actually get slightly better performance when you are overclock it, also it is the benefits of ryzen, unlocked. overall value also better with ryzen, r5 1400+b350 should be such a good fit, if you dont overclock then just get the a320 mobo
