So, I'm looking to get any one of those CPUs, should I go straight for the 1600 or save some cash and buy the 1500X? I'll be using the stock Wraith Spire cooler before splurging on a better one later on the way.

Will be paired with:
RX 570
Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3
8GB DDR4-2400 (pretty low, I know)

I mean the thing is, they're all basically the same chip and none of them overclock past 4.1GHz anyways. 3.9-4.0GHz is easily attainable on all of them, 3.9 even on the stock cooler. When you compare the 1600 against the 1500X from the context of overclocking, you're basically getting 50% more CPU for 16% more money with the 1600 assuming you get them to the same clocks.
I'd go with the 1600 if it were me. More cores and threads, give it a slight OC and you have a solid CPU that will be better in games like BF1, watch dogs 2, ghost recon wildlands...you know all though pesky new games that will eat very thread you have. Titles like these are driving the need for more cores and threads then ever before.

Save for the 1500x? Isn't the 1600 more expensive? Regardless I'd get the 1600 and spend the extra $10 or so on faster RAM. You'll be fine with the stock cooler, it's really not necessary with these chips to get an aftermarket cooler unless you want to seriously overclock.

I mean, like, saving some cash as in saving up, and I could use that saved up money for something else rather than a CPU.

Yeah, I reckon I'm gonna go for a 1600. After all, I'm here for second opinions.

I think I'm going straight for the 1600, and I'm gonna save up some more money for faster RAM. I'll stick with the stock cooler for now, probably gonna run a mild overclock. How does that sound to you guys/girls?

Hey,

I recently bought a Ryzen 1500x & overclocked it to 3.9ghz with stock cooler and I am highly satisfied with the performance because I made jump from FX 8350. My 1500x is paired with rx480 nitro+ and to be honest if you are going with a mid range graphics card such as rx480 or rx 580 or gtx1060 any of the ryzen5 processors should deliver similar performance. My friend got a system with ryzen 1600 overclocked to 3.7 ghz paired with rx480 asus strix(Yup we both are amd fans) and he got an average of 2-5 fps more in BF1,withcher 3, watchdogs 2,Hitman.

I was on a serious budget crisis, I had to invest into a good cabinet. If I had the money yes I would have went for ryzen 1600 but the inference is if you are going to use a mid range graphics card there won't be a noticeable difference between 1500x and 1600 but if you are going for High end such as 1070 or 1080ti 1600 takes a huge lead over 1500x according to the youtube videos I saw.
