i currently have a ryzen 5 1600 and a gtx 1050, however am looking to upgrade to a gtx 1070 ti to do 144hz, and doubt my ryzen 5 1600 is optimal. should i,
A: stick with my current ryzen 5 1600 and not bother upgrading for now (£0)
B: upgrade to a ryzen 5 2600x (~£200)
C: get an i5 8600k and a new motherboard and cooler (~£350-400)
D: any other suggestions.

Solution
Sell the set except reusing case/storage/psu/ May add ssd if you don't have yet. PSU is decent.

i currently have:
a320m hd2
cx550m psu
1 stick of 8gb ram (planning on upgrading that)
ryzen 5 1600
gtx 1050

and i plan on playing/already play the likes of: rainbow six siege, overwatch, csgo, just cause 3, fallout 4, forza horizon 4, destiny 2 and gta 5

i dont want to be spending too much more than £1100 on upgrades including more ram, an ssd, a new monitor, graphics card and i am obviously debating a new cpu.

I'm on the other end. Hang on for now. In a few months, should see zen 2 getting released. At CES they showed an engineering sample supposedly beating an i9. It would not be a bad idea to upgrade your board when you upgrade the CPU though.

But some leaks were showing zen 2 getting toward the 5ghz range on clock speed. If that's true, that 9600k might get smoked.
