Ryzen 5 1600 and 1080 Ti Questions

Hi all, I have some quick questions....

My system specs are:
CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 OC @3.7 GHz

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 DT GAMING
(GPU OC: 1900MHz----MEM OC: 5800MHz)

16GB of Gskill Ripjaws DDR4 Ram

Msi B350M Pro-VDH Mobo

700W Bronze PSU

Sandisk SSD (for windows, google, etc.)

2TB 5400RPM WD Blue Hard Drive (For Games, Photoshop, etc., I know I should upgrade to a WD black 7200RPM)

So my Question is, is my CPU Not good enough? I recently upgraded to a 1080ti from a 1060. Im playing at 1440p, so money well spent, I needed the boost. I noticed my cpu load in some games were high, and if I OC my cpu higher, I would get more frames in games. (Ex. Watch Dogs 2. I had to put settings on high instead of Ultra to get 65 FPS. If i OC higher, my load would go down to abt 60%, and I would get 75ish FPS. If I set settings to Very High with some anti-aliasing with higher OC, my load would go back to 80% and I would get 45-50 FPS.) I'm waiting on a Cooler Master 212 so I can OC higher and get lower temps. I don't want to get switch to Intel, mostly due to laziness (I would have to uninstall all my current mobo drivers, get a new mobo as well as a 7700k, reinstall new drivers, switch mobo's, blah blah blah.) If you think It's worth it to get a 7700k, let me know, but if I got a Ryzen 7 1700x or 1800x, would that work too? Is my Ryzen 5 the issue? My goal is to get 1440p, fully maxed out settings, highest anti-aliasing, at 70-90 FPS.

All help is appreciated, Thanks

Solution
Yeah, you are going to need a faster CPU, Ryzen 7.

What is that 700w Bronze PSU?

I wouldn't put too much faith in that 212 EVO, it's not that great, there are MUCH better coolers for around the same price range.

Cyborg H7 for one.

I would get a better PSU than that if you like that GTX 1080Ti.

The one you have is NOT a good unit.

Something like a 650W:

Seasonic Focus Plus
Corsair RMX
EVGA G2 or G3.

I have one last question. Why a gold PSU? Why not Bronze?

Not that many Bronze units these days that I would recommend in a higher end system, especially with a GTX 1080 or GTX 1080Ti.

Most of the Bronze units are junk these days.

You defiantly want a high quality PSU.

Well, you may have just saved my bacon. Thank you kindly sir

With that GPU, it can pull well over 300w a high quality unit is really needed.

Now there are junk Gold PSU's out also, stick with one I recommended and you will be fine.

sorry to bother you one last time, but im prob gonna get the EVGA super nova G2. im looking at vids, and the 24 pin mobo cable splits into 10 extra pins. do i plug those 10 extra pins into the psu? also, dumb question, should i use one cable that splits to power 1080ti, or 2 seperate cables? thanks again m8

Yeah you will see once you get the PSU were to connect the 24 pin.

Yes, use 2 separate cables for the GPU.
