Ryzen 5 1600 issues out of the box

Straight out of the box and onto my ASUS Prime B350-m and I am having weird issues with my ryzen 1600

First:
Multiplier is set to 35 giving me a "factory" target cpu of 3.5 when it should be 3.2...so I reset everything to default a few times just to check, and now CPU-Z is showing my multiplier as 34.00 but while it was previously static, it is now jumping between 34 and 37.

Also, after the computer sits for a while or goes into sleep mode, when I come back my cpu is frozen in the dreaded 1.5 state.

I did have D.O.C.P. turned on to get my memory running at listed speeds (3000) so I am just trying to figure out what to do here. I was happy with the 3.5 it was giving me out of the box, but it keeps reverting to 1.5. Any advice?

Try updating your motherboard BIOS to the most recent, then revert it back to default settings in BIOS (don't make any memory changes just yet). Boot into windows and see if your CPU is running as it should. If it is, then you can go to your BIOS and make any changes you need.

Just keep track of what you change just in case it turns out to have a negative impact on your CPU again.

Sounds as if your bios chose a higher performance setting right out off the bat with your 1600, resulting in that 3.5ghz. I'd see if there's an updated bios, flash it, reset it to defaults, and then see how it performs.

Just updated BIOS yesterday, reset everything to factory default and turned on XMP to get my ram up to listed speeds. Currently CPU_Z has it at a x34 multiplier, so we'll see if it locks back in to 1.5 today and I'll check back in

Okay I will try that now, but at default settings my 3000mhz ram only runs at 2133, how can I fix that without applying XMP?

Here is my system before reverting to default settings:

Very strange,

In your first pic, https://imgur.com/a/8RFx8Sq you could try changing the "CPU core ratio" from "Auto" to "32".

That should give you the 3000 memory speeds and keep the CPU @3.2 as a base speed.

I can't tell you if it will still boost up to 3.6 or not. You'll have to test it and see for yourself while running something like cinebench.

Good luck,

Hey Daytrading, I am currently having the same issue. clocks up to 3.8 just fine through the bios but once past that it locks the core speed to 1.5ghz even though windows says max speed is 3.95 what I set it at. It refuses to increase at all.
